CARNAL TOMB from Germany’s chaotic and pulsating capital Berlin deliver their long-awaited third album with “Embalmed in Decay”, which perfectly channels the spirit of old school death metal. Shorter tracks, fast blast beats and characteristic doom passages result in a contemporary version of classic death metal. “Embalmed in Decay” cements the Germans’ status as one of the hottest young acts in this brutal genre. CARNAL TOMB is inspired, among other things, by the works of H.P. Lovecraft, but also from gore and zombie films such as Amando de Ossorio’s 1972 classic “Tombs of the Blind Dead”, as well as special Italian burial sites called “Putridairum”, where the bodies of the deceased are kept in open chambers down to the bone rotted. The morbid cover artwork by artist Skaðvaldur was also influenced by these themes. CARNAL TOMB were founded in Berlin in 2014. An insatiable hunger for old school death metal had infected all band members. In addition to a remarkable wealth of demo recordings, EPs, split and single releases, the two albums “Rotten Remains” (2016) and “Abhorrent Veneration” (2019) earned the band an excellent reputation among death metallers around the globe . With the bloodthirsty death metal horror of “Embalmed in Decay”, CARNAL TOMB even calls the dead from their graves and unleashes their unleashed monster songs on an unsuspecting world.
